How to find an IP address

You may have many options to find an IP address.

  1. In your computer, run ipconfig /all command.
  2. If there is a router in your network, you may be able to find the both IP and Mac addresses.
  3. If you know the host name, you can use ping from other computer, for example ping pc1 (Note: PC1 is the host name).
  4. If you know the host name and use dynamic IP, you check the DHCP server.
  5. If you know the host name or FQDN, you check the DNS or WINS server.
