How to Create Virtual Desktop Collections in Windows 2012 RDS  - Step by step with screenshots 

 

1. Open Server Manager.

2. Navigate to Remote Desktop Services>Overview, and makes sure you have you have RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker and RD Virtualization Host installed.


 

3. On Collection, click on Task and select Create Virtual Desktop Colelction.

  

4. Click on Before You Begin wizard page.

 

5. Enter the name for the colelction.

 

6. In the Collection type, you have two options: Pooled virtual desktop collection and Personal virtual desktop collection.

 

6. In Specify the virtual desktop template, select the template. Note: if you don't have the template, please follow this how to: Microsoft VDI How To  - Step by step with screenshots 

 

7. In User Assignment, you can Enable automatic assignment, Disable automatic assignment and Add the user account to the local Administrators group on the virtual desktop.

 

8. In Specify the virtual desktop settings, you have these options: Provide unattended installation settings and Use an existing Sysprep answer file.

 

9. In Specify the unattended installation settings, setup time zone, OU.

 

10. In Sepecify users and user groups, add the users or groups. Enter virtual desktops to be cretaed in the colelction.

 

11. In Specify virtual desktop allocation, modify virtual desktop number.

 

12. In Specify virtual desktop storage, select the location.

 

13. Click Create after confirming the settings.  

 

14. After finish, click close.

 

15. Now, you should see the new created VM in the Hyper-v Manager.

16. If you login RemoteApp, you should have the PersonalVDI available.
