How to use Auto generated 8.3 File Names to delete a long file name

Long file (over 255 characters) may cause a problem in Windows when you try to delete or move it. Auto generated 8.3 file name is the way to fix the problem.

If you have a long file name, for example, chicagotech1234567890.doc, the format of the 8.3 file name will be the first 6 characters of the file name plus "~" and "number". In our example, chicagotech1234567890.doc will be chicag~1.

Note: All file name characters that are not allowed like spaces under MS-DOS are removed, .
Here are some example,

1. My Chicagotech A.doc------MYchic~1.DOC
2. My Chicagotech B.doc------MYchic~2.DOC

To delete a long file name, My Chicagotech A.doc in C drive, run command. type del c:\MYchic~1.DOC and press Enter.
