* "A domain controller for the domain could not be contacted"

* "DNS name does not exist", "error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR"

* "The DNS SRV records required to locate a domain controller for the  domain are not registered in DNS

Resolution 2: Join domain using NetBIOS name.

Some people fix the similar issue using NetBIOS name instead of FQDN. If you had used NT DC, you may know what I mean. To use the NetBIOS name to join the domain, for example you may use chicagotech instead of chicagotech.net. To find the domain NetBIOS name, refer to this page, How to find the NetBIOS domain name

If you WINS server, you may use NetBIOS name to join the domain. Before that, make sure the both DC and client have registered their NetBIOS name in the WINS records.

If you don't have WINS server, you make sure both DC and client have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Also make sure the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service is running on the client computer.
