Case Study - Event ID 7031 - Service terminated unexpectedly. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly Situation: The client just migrated Exchange 2000 to 2003 recently. The server keeps receiving this Event ID 7031 "The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this %2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in %3 milliseconds: %5." in the past 3 months. It happens randomly. When they receive this Event ID, the Information Store service is stopped and no one can send or receive email. Reboot the exchange server or re-start Information Store service will fix the problem. Troubleshooting: We have searched this event id on Google but couldn't find a solution. Our temporary solution is using Windows Services Recovery option. So that, whenever the Information Store stops, the server re-start it in one minute automatically. Finally. we fixed this problem by Creating a new Queue folder. To do so, rename the Queue folder to Queue_old, and then restart the IIS Admin service and the other Exchange services.
