Case Study Ė Nslookup can't find server name for address x.x.x.x and Default Server:  UnKnown

Situation: When the workstation canít join the domain, we use nslookup to find the status of the DNS. The nslookup displays this message: ďDNS request timed out. Timeout was 2 seconds.

*** Can't find server name for address Timed out

Default Server:  UnKnown


Troubleshooting: The workstation can ping another computerís FQDN but none of computers can ping the computerís FQDN.

Resolution: add the A record of the computer in the DNS. Then any computers can ping its FQDN.
