How to change user Principal Name for login - Step by step with screenshots

Assuming your systems have two email domain names, for example chicagotech.net and howtonetwokring.com. The users always login using chicagotec.net. After you migrated mailboxes from exchange to the office 365, the users like user@howtonetworking.com prefer to login Office 365 using their email address. You may need to change the user principal name. Here is how.

1. Run ADSI Edit.

2. navigate to users>username.

3. Right click on the user and select Properties.

4. In the Attribute, find userPrincipalName.

5. Change it from username@howtonetwork.com to chicagotech.net.

6. Save it (you may need to run DirSync).

7. Test it.
