How to create a group policy to run Startup and Shutdown script

 

This example is based on local policy. You may do the same on a domain policy. The Startup and Shutdown policy applies to computer when the machine start and shutdown

 

1. Before creating the group policy, create a script using Notepad and save it in C:\windows\system32\grouppolicy\Machine\script>startup or shutdown folder.

 

2. Run gpedit.msc.

 

3. Expand the Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Script (Startup/Shutdown).

 

4. Double click on Startup or Shutdown.

 

5. Click Show Files which should expand to the Startup or Shutdown folder.

 

6. Select the script and click OK to save the settings.
