How to restore SQL 2005 database

 

1. On the SQL server, run SQL Server Management Studio.

2.  Click on “Databases” and select “New Database…”. Type the database name to create the database.

 

 

3. Find the new SQL Server database you just created and want to restore it from the backup, then  right click on it and go to “Tasks” > “Restore” > “Database”.

 


4. Click on the “From Device” radio button and browse and find the SQL Server database backup file (the one with the “.bak” file format).
5. Check Restore in Select the backup sets to restore

 


6. Click Options in the left top.

7. Check Overwrite the existing database.

8. If you want to change the database location, double click the file under Restore As.


 

9. Click OK to start the restore.
