How to troubleshoot NDRs with 5.7.1 and 5.7.3 error codes

 

Resolution  1:  Enable relay - Authenticated computers not allowed to relay

NDRs that contain a 5.7.1 error code can occur if the Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay... check box is not selected on the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server or . To locate the Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay check box, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Exchange, then click System Manager.
  2. In the Exchange System Manager, expand the Servers container.
  3. Expand the container that is for your Exchange server.
  4. Expand the Protocols container.
  5. Expand the SMTP container.
  6. Right-click on the SMTP virtual server object, and then click Properties.
  7. Click the Access tab.
  8. Click the Relay button.
  9. Check the Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay.
  10. Check Only the list below and add IP address/mask or domain name, and type the IP and mask or domain name.
