How to publish printers in the Active Directory

 

To publish a printer shared by a computer running Windows server, use the Sharing tab in the printer's properties. By default, the List in the Directory check box is selected. If for some reason, the shared printer are not published in the Active Directory, you may want to check the Group Policy settings. Please follow these steps.

 

1. Run ADUC by going to Start / Programs / Administrative Tools / Active Directory Users and Computers

2. Right click the domain name and select Properties.

3. On the Group Policy tab, select the Default Domain Policy and press the Edit button.

4. Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Printers.

5. Double-click Allow printers to be published. The Explain tab contains:

6. Double-click Automatically publish new printers in Active Directory.
