How to load custom RAID drive when installing XP on VMware

To load a custom RAID driver for the virtual HD Controller card, please follow these steps.

1.   Upload the driver to the VMware server. in VMware Infrastructure Client, highlight the host server, click on Configuration tab. Double click on the storage you want to upload. Click on the Upload icon, select Upload file. Browse the driver and upload it.

 

 

2. If the computer doesn't come with a floppy disk, you may want to configure the guest VM to access the floppy image. To do that, click on Edit Virtual Machine Settings. Select Floppy Drive 1. Check Use existing floppy image in datastore and browse the image.

 

 

3. When booting from the XP CD, press F6. In the Windows setup, press S to add SCSI adapter.

 

4. If you have floppy drive mapping, you should see the next screen. Press Enter to select it.

 

 

5. After selecting the driver, press Enter to continue.
