How to move VM from one storage to another storage using SCVMM

In our example, we use Microsoft SCVMM to move a VM called 2008-FC01 running on our Cluster from storage CSV-SATA01 to CSV-FSDATA. Here is the step by step.

  1. Login VMM server using admin account.
  2. Run SCVMM Admin Console.
  3. Navigate to All Hosts>Cluster>Host name and click on Virtual Machines.
  4. Right click on the server you want to move the storage, and select Migrate storage.

5. In the Virtual machine path, click browse select the new VM path, C:\ClusterStorage\CSV-FSDATA in our example.
6. In the Disks, browse to the new disk location, also C:\ClusterStorage\CSV-FSDATA in our example

7. In the Summary, click Move to start the migration.

8.The job page will popup and you can view the status of the migration.
