How to enable File History in Windows 8 - Step by step with screenshots

Windows 7 offers Previous Versions that allowed you to recover an older version of a document or other data file. Previous Versions was Microsoft's attempt to create a usable front-end for a service called Volume Shadow Copy that debuted in Windows Server 2003. Now, Windows 8 includes a new feature called File History by offering the same capabilities in a far easier to discover and use package.

By default, the File History is disabled. To enable it, please follow these steps:

1. In the Start, type file history and click Settings.

2. Click File History to open it.

3. Click Use network location.

4. Select a File History drive.

5. After selecting the file history drive, click Turn on to enable it.
