Windows 7 Action Center is a central place to view security settings and take actions to keep Windows running smoothly and safely. It lists important messages about security and maintenance settings that need your attention. A red item in Action Center indicates an important issue that should be addressed soon while a yellow items are suggested tasks that you should consider addressing.

To open the Action Center, type action in the Start or navigate to Control Panel>System and Security.

To view details about the Security, click the Security heading or the arrow next to the heading to expand or collapse the section.

To view details about the Maintenance section, click the Maintenance section heading or the arrow next to the heading to expand or collapse the section. 

 If you don’t want to see certain types of messages, you can choose to hide them from view.

If you’re having a problem with your computer, you can find many tools such as troubleshooting, recovery, backup and restore, Windows update, and Windows programs compatibility troubleshooter in Action Center.
