How to restrict drive redirection for some users in RDS 2012 R2- Step by step with screenshots
Q: we want to restrict drive redirection for some users in RDS 2012 R2
environment.
A: I understand that you want to restrict drive redirection for some
users in RDS 2012 R2 environment. If there is anything misunderstood,
please feel free to let me know.
Based on my lab test, perhaps we
can use the CAP in RD gateway (if RD Gateway is used) to achieve this:
1, Create 2 groups in ADUC for non-restricted users and restricted
users (in my lab, it is test1 and test2) and add the corresponding users
to the groups
2, Create 2 CAP in the RD Gateway server, one
policy to allow drive redirection for users in test1 and another policy
to deny drive redirection for users in test2 and set the corresponding
value
3, Enable the group policy to specify the RD gateway server
and do not allow the users to change the settings (enforced)
Here
are the screenshots of my test for your reference. You may need to try
in your environment to see if it works.

2, The group policy
Open local group policy
editor (gpedit.msc or be done by GPO), in the left pane, under User
Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows
Components, expand Remote Desktop Services, and then click RD Gateway.
Enable the following two group policies:
Enable
connection through RD Gateway (clear the Allow users to change this
setting check box)
Set RD Gateway server address

3, The result:
Run
mstsc.exe and select the drive to be redirected

The drive redirection is successful for users in test1

There is no redirected drive for users
in test2
