Deploy Microsoft Multi-site
Failover Cluster with EqualLogic SAN - Step by step with screenshots
Hardware and Location: There are four Dell
serves, two Dell R710 (Dell03 and Dell04) and two R510 servers (R510A
and R510B) running Windows 64 bit 2008 R2 Enterprise with Failover
Cluster enabled. Dell03 and R510A are located in Admin Building. Dell04
and R510B are in DR. Each server has 48GB RAM.
SAN Connections and Replication: There are
two EuqalLogic SAN groups in two locations. All Dell servers are
connecting to GroupA, IP 10.16.0.66. There are 5 volumes for Cluster01,
CSV-SAS01, CSV-SATA01, CSV-FSDATA, DATA2-Data and Quorum. We use
EqualLogic Replication to replica data from GroupA to GroupDR, IP
10.16.0.73. In a case, GroupA is down. On each node, reset iSICS target
pointing to GroupDR 10.16.0.73 manually.
Network Connections and IP Addresses: Each
Dell Server has 12 NICs and this is the configuration for R510A: 1) CSV
(EX2-2) 172.31.2.1; 2) Heartbeat (EX1-1) 172.1.1.1; 3) iSCSI1 (OB-2)
10.16.0.170; 4) iSCSI2 (EX2-3) 10.16.0.171; 5) iSCSI3 (EX3-3)
10.16.0.172; 6) LiveMigration (EX3-2) 172.31.3.1; 7) Mgmt1 (OB-1); 8)
Mgmt2 (EX2-1), Note: MgmtTeam is the teaming for Mgmt1 and Mgmt2 IP
address 10.0.5.226, 9) VMTraffic1 (EX1-2), 10) VMTraffic2 (EX2-4), 11)
VMTraffic3 (EX3-4), Note: VMTeam_VLAN 1 (LAN), 10 (DMZ), 2 (Student) and
8 (SAN) are created by using Broadcom software for Virtual Switch on
Hyper-V, 12) is disabled for future use.
Failover Cluster: The cluster name is
Cluster01.chicagotech.net with four nodes and hosts 10 VMs.
