How to modify the remote Assistance Invitation When trying to remote access a XP computer to offer a remote assistance, you may receive the "Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote host name could not be resolved". You receive this message because the remote computer is behind a router or firewall, and the IP sent to you is the private IP behind the router or firewall. One way to fix this problem is modifying the invitation file and replacing the private IP with the public IP or domain name. Note: to find out you’re your computer public IP, check this link, What’s MY IP. To modify the invitation, open it from notepad. You
