How to use EXMERGE to extract mailbox to Personal Folders.

1. Restore the Exchange backup.

2. You see all users' mailbox in the Mailboxes folder. A red "X" will appear on the disconnected mailbox. If not, Right-click the Mailboxes container, and then click Run Cleanup Agent.

3. Create a new user in ADUC, please do not create it using Add a new user wizard in SBS console. To do so:

a. Open ADUC.

c. Follow the wizard, until you are prompted to “Create an Exchange mailbox”, please uncheck this box and continue the wizard to finish. In this case, a user without a mailbox will be created. We will use this user to connect to the mailbox you want to recover.

4. Run EXMERGE(you may need to download it from Microsoft web site).

5. You will have two options, Extract and Import (One Step Procedure) and Extract or Import (Two Step Procedure).

6. In the source Server, type the Exchange server name.

7.

7. Depends on where you restore the mailbox, select the available database.

8. In Mailbox Selection, selecte the user you just created.
